Dermatophyte Monitoring in an Iranian Training Dermatology Hospital

Introduction: The most common cutaneous fungal infections are caused by dermatophyte fungi such as Microsporum, Trichophyton, and Epidermophyton. In this study, the epidemiologic trends predominant organisms causing dermatophytosis in Urmia, Northwest Iran, were identified.Aims objectives: To get better perception of distribution authors studied identification isolated dermatophytes from human specimens using a fast cheap molecular method: PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). also aimed to use method for rapid reliable medically important at level species. Methods: study samples collected clinically suspected lesions. All transported Medical Mycology Center, Urmia Sciences University (UMS), Iran. First all, conventional diagnosis was carried out, which included microscopic examination culture sabouraud dextrose agar medium with antibiotics: chloramphenicol cycloheximide. isolates then identified species PCR-RFLP. Results: From tested 357 clinical specimens, 30 dermatophytic identified. percentage rate Trichophyton mentagrophytes (36%), Microsporum canis (32%), gypseum (16%), rubrum (4%), Epidermophyton floccosum (12%). Conclusion: By PCR-RFLP, these is possible. This provided an opportunity level.
